Conflict into Opportunity: an Embodied Approach

 Programme summary

This training will lay out the foundation for using conflict as an opportunity to clarify understanding, share viewpoints and increase positive collaboration within the team or between leaders and team members. Using physical techniques based on the martial art of Aikido, integral theory, voice dialogue, mindfulness meditation and systemic understanding, participants will embody the capacity to relate to the pressure of conflict as catalyst for positive change. Participants will learn how take multiple perspectives and shift into an operating system that includes the needs of the individual, the relationship and the corporate structure. This way of operating will approach conflict outside of a “zero-sum gain” context and access conflict as a doorway for individual and systemic development.

 Participants

Participants for this training can include managers, senior leaders, team leaders and team members.

 Learning outcomes

With the skills offered in this training, participants will be able to:

  • Change their relationship to conflict from a fight/flight/freeze reaction or a competitive win/lose scenario to a systemic understanding supported by curiosity and creativity.
  • Learn how to “lean into” crisis with the intention of accessing the necessary information of the situation in order to facilitate a process that brings greater understanding, collaboration and cooperation into the given conflict.
  • Meet the pressure of conflict without taking the conflict personally. They will be able to meet the situation from a perspective that acknowledges the different viewpoints in each conflict and relate to them from a committed engaged yet impersonal relationship.
  • Recognize that conflict is the breeding ground of growth and development, transforming the fundamental relationship with conflict itself from problem to solve to opportunity to explore.
