 Programme summary 

Emotional Intelligence is defined as “a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.” EI reflects one’s overall well-being and ability to succeed at work, in career, and in social and personal life. Emotional Intelligence skills are key indicators of high performance in the workplace. This course is an introduction to these components using 5 key processes: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills.

What will be covered:

  • Introduction to Emotional Intelligence to establish how well we perceive and express ourselves
  • develop and maintain social relationships
  • use emotions to make better choices and decisions; cope with challenges in life and work through increased EI
  • create strategies to create more EI
  • understand the brain and how the brain amygdala can hijack our rational thought
  • enable abilities to return to rational thought quicker; Identify approaches to act responsibly, augment social consciousness and show concern for the greater team and for colleagues .

Any leader, manager or individual contributor who wants to improve their emotional skills.

 Learning outcomes 

Upon completion of the course, participants will: know how to describe themselves in terms of their emotions, understand what is emotional intelligence and how it helps us, be aware of Carl Jung’s stance, the thinking and brain processes, IQ vs. EI, difference between intelligence and thinking, what is EI, dimensions of EI, social awareness, self-awareness, learning to drive learning to use the brain, social management dimensions, the negative and positive emotions of life, the amygdala and its hijacking ability, the ladder of inference, how to combine and use this information, development plan and wrap up.
