Assertive Communication & Active Listening Training

 Programme summary 

How we communicate is the currency used to establish respect and trust, whether we are talking with subordinates, peers, superiors or clients. Minds are like parachutes: they only function when open.

Acknowledging that listening is a basic human interaction skill, many are just not skilled. Surveys show that a key motivator for employees to stay with a company is to feel “heard and listened to” by their leaders. This hands-on seminar helps participants learn how to listen actively and contextually to respond assertively. Participants return to their business with an increased and fine-tuned foundation to listen, hear and translate skills into actions.

  • One way versus two-way communication
  • Two way communication
  • Active listening
  • Blockages to listening in today’s world
  • Removing a layer of conflict from all potential interactions for assertive impact to get more of what is necessary, more of the time with less hassle, less resistance and more buy in
  • Removing listening blockages, use of silence
  • Questions; and paraphrasing / summarizing

 Learning outcomes 

At the end of the training, participants will be able to: measure listening and communication potential, hone and implement assertiveness skills; listen not only actively – also contextually, to decipher the basics of body language, interpreting and adjusting for fit; dealing with silence and noise, link communication and listening to performance and mutual commitment.
